Frequently Asked Questions

NOTICE: DO NOT complete the SIGNATURE portions of any document.

You must wait until you are in front of a notary for your signature to be witnessed.

Please have the other portions of the document completed.

What are your fees?

The minimum charge for most mobile notary services is $25. This includes notarization of one document per person. Travel time, parking or entrance fees will also be added. Additional fees may vary depending on the type and length of a document and travel location. Additional notary stamps per document or more than one document at the signing may also require additional fees.

Can you come to my home or office?

Yes, we visit residences, offices, medical facilities, nursing homes, retirement centers, senior centers, schools, factories, coffee shops - anywhere that is convenient for you!

How do I contact you to make an appointment?

You may email tnvalleymobilenotary@gmail.com, call or text:

423-585-5824. Check our website for our most current scheduled working hours.

How long will it take to get my document notarized?

Typically, less than 30 minutes depending on the document. And, if the forms are completed and witnesses are available prior to the mobile notary arriving.

Do I need to sign the document in front of you?

Yes, a notary public MUST witness you signing the forms. Forms will be considered invalid if a notary did not witness the signature. It is a good idea to have extra copies available in case errors are made.

Can you notarize a document for someone else if they’re not present?

No, a person must be present in front of a notary and present a valid photo id.

Do I need witnesses for the document I need notarized?

This depends on the form you are using. Please check ahead of time and have the proper amount of witnesses available at the time of your signing. We do not provide witnesses. Many health facilities do not allow staff to be witnesses, so check their policies first. You may ask a neighbor, friend, or a co-worker.

What type of ID do I need?

You must present a current government issued photo id: driver’s license, passport, state issued id card, or military id. Any witnesses for your document signing must also have the proper id’s as well. Expired id’s cannot be accepted.

What if I don’t understand the document I’m signing? Can you explain it?

We can’t provide legal advice or explain the meaning of your document—that’s something an attorney can help with. A notary is to verify your identity, ensure you’re signing willingly, and witness your signature. If you’re unsure about the document, consult a lawyer or the person who prepared it before proceeding.

I AM NOT AN ATTORNEY LICENSED TO PRACTICE LAW IN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, AND I MAY NOT GIVE LEGAL ADVICE OR ACCEPT FEES FOR LEGAL ADVICE.

How do I pay for your services since you are a mobile notary?

Cash, debit or credit cards accepted. You can pay by text message at the time of service. We also accept payments on our website which makes the whole process simple and easy for you to complete. No checks please.

I don’t like people coming to my home. Are there other ways to get my document notarized?

No problem! We don’t have a physical office as we offer mobile services only. However, we come to you wherever it’s convenient for you. We can meet you in a local coffee shop, library, shopping center, your workplace and more!

Can you refuse to notarize my document?

Yes, a notary has the right to refuse to sign a document. Examples could be invalid document, suspected fraud, incomplete document, no witnesses available or signer appears coerced, etc.

What if I lose the notarized document? Can you provide another copy?

No, copies are not kept once we notarize a document. You can request a digital scanned copy of the forms to be emailed to you at the time of service to have for your records. There is additional fee of $10.00 for scanning/emailing.

Otherwise, we do not keep or store signed forms to be replaced.
